Welcome from the Headteacher

Dear parents/carers,
On behalf of the staff, parents and children, I extend a warm welcome to you and your child as part of our school community at Bowhouse Primary School and ELC.
We hope you find the information on our website helpful as we begin to share your child's learning journey with you.
Whilst education continues to undergo many changes to prepare children for the demands of a rapidly changing world, the central aim at Bowhouse remains the same; to provide the best possible education for each child in our school, challenging and supporting them to achieve their potential.
Our staff are dedicated, caring and hard-working and are aspirational for all our children. We create an inclusive, positive and nurturing atmosphere in school and seek to involve and work in partnership with families to establish positive home/school links to ensure the best possible outcomes for each child.

Welcome back!

Good afternoon,
We hope you had a lovely Summer break.
We are looking forward to welcoming all our children back to school and ELC tomorrow and to welcoming our new P1 children and families to Bowhouse. 

We would also like to wish all our P7 children from last year the best of luck for their first day in S1.

Doors open for the ELC at 8:45am.
School will start at 9am for P2-P7.  All children have been shown where to line up but staff will be available in the playground to direct children.
School will start at 9:15am for P1.  We welcome any family members and friends into the playground to wish our P1 children good luck on their first day at school but would ask that no more than 2 adults join the P1 children in their class.  Parents and carers are welcome to pop along to our cafe in the hall for a cuppa and a biscuit after dropping your child at their class.

Please note that bagels will not be available this week and for children who attend the Cereal Club,  information will be shared with you when this starts again.

We are excited to see all the children in their new uniform!  A gentle reminder to label all of your child's items so they can find their way back home.

School Uniform

We hope everyone has had a lovely summer holiday and we are looking forward to welcoming all our children back to school and ELC on Wednesday.

We have 3 uniform orders from Homefront which can be collected from the school on Monday or Tuesday at 3pm.

Please double check emails for any orders from BE Uniforms as some payment links have been sent to emails and not been completed. 

We will have a small selection of new and used Uniform items available on Monday and Tuesday 3-3:30 for anyone who is still looking for items. Please note that new items will be available to buy and preloved items will be free. 

Please contact the school if you require any support with uniform items for your child.

Whole school & ELC - Mr Dick/end of term arrangements

Tomorrow is Mr Dick's last day at Bowhouse PS.  A reminder that to honour his last day and his time at Bowhouse that we will be holding a guard of honour for him at the end of the day.  The classes will line up at 2:50pm and we invite any parents/carers to join us at 2:55pm.  Please keep the main entrance free for classes to line up.  Parents & carers can then line up along the path that leads out the school to Tinto Drive.  Let's make this guard of honour a long one!

Please remember that tomorrow is an early lunch - 12 - 12:45pm.

A reminder that children can come to school dress down on Friday and that we would welcome any donations for the charity SIMBA in memory of little Jamieson.

Please note that there is no church service at Kirk of the Holy Rood on Friday.

Lunch will be at the normal time on Friday and a limited lunch menu will be available.

The school & ELC closes for all children at 1:30pm.  Please ensure all children are collected on time.

All children return to school and ELC on Wednesday 13th August at the usual start and finish times.  Alternative times have been shared with parents/carers of children starting P1.

All parents/carers - school uniform orders

Thank you for your patience with the ordering of our new school uniform for August.  Both BE and Homefront have confirmed all orders will be ready in plenty of time before school starts. If you ordered with BE you'll receive a payment link in the next few days. Orders can be collected from their new store at Little Kerse in July. You will be contacted when your order is ready for collection.

If you ordered from Homefront, orders will be processed and ready for collection mid July. You will be contacted when your order is ready for collection. 

Please contact the school if you have any issues regarding collecting orders.

Special Collection - Dress Down

This Friday the children are welcome to come to school dress down.

We normally ask for donations on dress down days and when we go to the church.  Unfortunately we are unable to go to the Kirk of the Holy Rood on Friday morning but would like to request donations for a very special cause.

Little Jamieson Stuart McDougall was born sleeping on the 7th June.  He was the much loved little brother of 2 of our children at Bowhouse and, in memory of Jamieson,  we would like to hold a special collection for the charity SIMBA.

We hope that as many people as possible are able to offer something for this very special charity and that it will go some way to comfort Jamieson's family at this very difficult time.

Donations can be handed into the front office or sent into school with your child.

P1-P7 parents/carers

We are looking for any donations of school uniform your child has grown out of.  As we are moving to the new school uniform colour in August,  we wont be accepting any red sweatshirts/cardigans. We would be delighted to have donations of skirts, trousers, pinafores that still have plenty of life in them!  Please hand them into the front office tomorrow so they can be packaged and rehomed before the summer!

There will be a pop up swap shop on Thursday 26th June after school if anyone wants to pop in to collect some uniform items for the new session.
